Range Crew shoot for the 1500 Open
If it is considered bad manners to win too many competitions at your own Club’s event, then DRPC Members behaved very well, because of the possible 52 first places to be claimed we only managed four!
Shot the weekend before the Open in conditions similar to the Open, the Range Crew had no advantage. They were watched over by Taff and Jamie the independent witnesses who were almost redundant, as there is no quarter given when it comes to scoring, there were numerous calls for “A GAUGE!”
Timed & Precision 1 SB In A class Errol was placed highest at 3rd with Marianne 5th. Andy would have done better if he had kept the shots on his own target. Young Alex was shooting in a competition for the first time and was struggling to hold the rifle up, but he had a go!
Timed & Precision 1 CF
Dave was very happy with his score of 300 with 23 x’s but eventually it was only good enough for 4th place in X class. Pat, Jim, Pete and Errol all managed to put on a nine and were way down the results – there were 28 entrants in X class!!!! In A class Chris did well and was placed 3rd, Tim and Amy were 8th & 9th.
Timed & Precision 1 LBP Pat could only manage 3rd in X class
Timed & Precision 2 CF This was the first time this event has been staged at our Open and Tim was more than happy to win A class
Timed & Precision 3 LBR Another new event, and Jim had done well previously at other venues and he won it here too. A miss in the fast first stage made him try harder.
Multi-Target 1 SB Andy and Errol both scored the same – 101 and came 4th and 5th on countback in A class.
Multi-Target 1 CF Again we were all rubbish! Jim being highest placed in X class at 11th!
Pat was having feed problems with his Marlin and Errol had rounds left too. The A class shooters faired a bit better with in Chris 3rd, Amy 6th and Tim 8th. .
1500 SB Jim made a schoolboy error in M2 by loosing count and left one in the gun. Marianne seemed to be doing OK but was not happy with her score when she added it up, but came 2nd in C class. And Andy did OK with a Club rifle – only one jam I think and was 3rd in D class.
1500 CF Jim was annoyed with silly shots at 50m and had to settle for 4th in A class but it was worth a pint off Dave who was 8th. Pete was very quiet and shot very steady PB of 1475 to win Silver in B class. Pat and Tim are constantly improving and Pat won C class with1465 and Tim shot 1430, both were PB’s - I think. Rob struggled in M1 but kept going to come 4th in D class.
1500 LBR Two light strikes in the quick stages cost Jim 20 points, and a miss another 10, but somehow he won A class.
Not great results for Club Members but perhaps we tried to do too many events……..
