Jim and Dave at the Western Winner

The Western winner is purely a 1500 match, held by Frome RPC at the Bristol & Dist range south of Bristol. So unless you are a dedicated 1500 shooter it is a long way to go.
The match was busy with all four details full. Jim and Dave opted for the later details and did not start until 11am – very civilized.

Jim started with LBR and because of a back strain struggled with the left hand shooting; dropping two silly misses at 50m but the rest went OK and somehow won A class.

Centre-fire
Dave and Jim shot side by side in the hotly contested CF match and both cocked up big time!
Dave was puzzled why 13 of his 50m shots were low 9’s. Schoolboy error – his sights were set for 15m!!!!!
Jim was doing OK until he went left handed at 50m and the back pain kicked in causing a 8 and a miss.
After they finished criticising themselves and calmed down the rest went alright and just one point separated them – Dave winning A class with Jim second – Dave claiming a pint off Jim, but both disappointed with their errors.

Small-bore
Dave must have given up trying and put up a terrible score. While Jim – (now full of painkillers) smelt revenge and chance to recover a pint, shot a blinder just short of his PB. Honors equal on the day.
Summary
It is a long way to travel but it is always a great day and a very friendly crowd at Bristol,
and to top it all, both won good prizes in the medal winners draw.
